We also invest significantly in the innovation and enterprise infrastructure of Nottingham. The University is one of the largest providers of support to SME businesses and through our comprehensive “start up … to scale up” offer we engage with around 900 businesses a year. We also have a strong commitment to social mobility and our success in attracting and educating students from families who have not benefitted from higher education, has been recognised by our recent award as Guardian University of the Year 2019. While we are a truly global university with 3000 international students from over 100 countries, we have a strategic aim to support social, cultural and economic development in the local economy. We estimate that the University contributes £900m to the UK economy every year.
